“On behalf of the entire Seeds&Chips team, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the words you delivered at the fifth edition of Seeds&Chips in Milan. Your support is what strengthens our ecosystem and makes us believe that a sustainable food future is possible. Your energy and enthusiasm, inspire us all to do more, and to do better.

It is an incredible privilege and honor for me to be able to meet and bring together so many extraordinary speakers with different skillsets and backgrounds, whose collaboration is precisely what the world needs to transform the food system. Your deep knowledge and experience helped make the Summit a great success. When we began our work at Seeds&Chips, we wanted to do our part to create a better food system for everyone and for the planet. Over the past four years since those halcyon days, I became ever more aware that the food chain does not exist in a vacuum, and that our world is an intricate system of infinite moving parts which, in order to change, must all change together.

Once again, we are immensely grateful for your support, and we wish you and Ruth the best in your professional endeavors. We look forward to continuing the conversation in future Summits: Melbourne, Australia (3-5 September 2019) and Milan, Italy (18-20 May 2020).”

Forum for the Future of Agriculture 9 April 2019 - Brussels

Heather was invited by Janez Potocnik, chairman of FFA, Forum For Agriculture, 2019 to be a Keynote speaker in Brussels, Belgium - The Next Generation event on the 9th of April 2019. Heather’s 30 minute speech discussed VBites Foods, veganism and the future of plant based foods in the agriculture industry. The audience included people from the European Parliament, Council and Commission, Businesses, institutes and NGOs. This important event combined agriculture and environment, enabling open dialogue to create sustainable solutions.

Heather’s speech started at 2pm (GMT) and lasted 30 minutes, following on with an interactive Q&A with the audience, hosted by Femi Oke

Heather said:

"My key role in life is problem-solving unsolvable things that people think are problematic, but there are simple solutions. We had the answers 25 years ago, let's not be here in the next 10 years in the same situation and lets minimise the devastation on the marine eco system."

Heather concluded that:

"The simple solution for solving a number of issues is that every single person goes vegan."

Information from FFA 2019:

“The Forum for the Future of Agriculture (FFA) is where agriculture and environment meet for an open dialogue. Each year, luminaries from various leading international institutions, such as the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, the food/farming chain, NGOs, and businesses from every sector present their diverse views to a packed auditorium.”

Chairman of FFA, Janez Potočnik said:

“It was great meeting you, dear Heather, and thank you for all your work and eye opening contribution to the FFA.”

"Forum for the future of agriculture (FFA) was this year devoted to the next generation. I feel profoundly moved and encouraged by their active engagement to protect their future. It is the right time for those in power to hear the echo of the streets and the voice of frustrated young generation.  Heather was in her provocative, but honest address offering us an alternative for a healthier and more sustainable life. By practicing it through VBites she is proving that it is also economically viable and attractive. An important message to the current and the next generation.”

“I have been a keynote motivational  speaker around the world for over 25 years, The fast  Forward forum was the first event where I came away feeling enlightened, inspired and educated by my eclectic esteemed colleagues.”

”This is what this audience & policymakers need to hear: the future of food is plant-based”

“Vegan diet the best says Heather Mills at #FFA2019. Only a handful of vegans in the room. Hundreds of meat-eaters. Good audience to hear this.”

“So refreshing to hear Heather Mills speaking at FFA 2019 about shifting diets and agriculture to vegan future. The growth of plant-based market is an opportunity for farmers not a threat and governments should assist animal farmers to transition their production to plant crops”

Heather wrote an article for FFA titled discussing why she switched to a plant-based diet and how it led to her creating the innovative products with VBites Foods :

My journey into plant-based foods

“When I became a vegan over 25 years ago, I was like most people, ignorant of the harm I was doing to myself, the animals and the planet. Until more recently it seems the majority of people became vegan because of one of these reasons. Mine was health.”

“This motivated me to start to develop meat, fish and dairy free alternatives that actually tasted great. Initially I started with soy protein as this was readily available and a complete amino acid, but as time passed I started to work with pea protein combined with oat, then algal oils, thinking this could be grown in Europe by farmers to move them away from the heavily subsidised dairy industry. From these varieties of proteins my team and I developed over 130 exact replication of meat, fish and dairy alternate products for parallel eating.”
- Heather Mills

Closing remarks by Janez Potocnik:

“Make no mistake, reforming our food and economic systems to a circular model represents probably the most profound shift since the Industrial Revolution. But that is also its promise; in remaking our world we will create the jobs and prosperity we need. “

More than 1300 people registered for the event and you can visit FFA’s Facebook or FFA’s Twitter for more information.

The ‘Women's Power Breakout Session’ was an exchange of thoughts and ideas between the panels and the audience.

The aim of the panel was to help everyone work better, smarter and recruit more women into their local markets.

Michelle Goodrige (Remax Ambassador) said:

“You were amazing Heather and a true inspiration! Thanks for being a part of our conference and my women’s panel” … “You killed it!”

The exclusive FASTFORWARDFORUM took place this year on the 12th - 14th of October 2018 at the Hotel Villa Belrose in Saint-Tropez, South of France.

It was a gathering of 8 international top speakers and 25 top managers and thinkers for 72 hours generating a new kind of intellectual adventure.

The main aim of the Forum being that everyone took an active part and the top priority being audience involvement. It was not just about keynotes but an in-depth and thought provoking weekend of conversations.

Heimo Hammer who leads one of the biggest Austrian communications agency,  Kraftwerk invited Heather to the exclusive event, as one of the 8 International speakers after seeing her speak in Graz.

He said:

“I attended the Fifteen Seconds Festival earlier this month and was really impressed by Heather’s opening keynote”
The weekend comprised of 8 major topics of how the future of business could be built and which trends would be impacting businesses over the upcoming years.

Lectures ranged from the future of business, to the future of health care and nutrition as well as how hybrid thinking and thinking like a kid will change our way of living.

Each speaker, including Heather, had a 30 minute speaking slot and a discussion period afterwards with the other speakers and invited attendees. Heather spoke about how adversity can shape your life and take you in a direction you never would have taken if you had not endured the extreme nature of that event. In Heather’s instance following on from her horrific accident in 1993 where she was hit by a police motorcycle, sustaining multiple injuries and losing the lower part of her left leg, evolved into her being one of the leading pioneers of the plant-based food industry.

Heather created such an impression with her speech that her contagious conviction persuaded everyone that they all wanted to try the benefits of a plant-based diet

The weekend was a resounding success and great lifelong friendships were made.

Walter, an attendee said:

“Thank you, Heather, for helping us to build a healthier, more sustainable future”

Penelope, also an attendee said:
“You did a great job at inspiring and changing the opinion of the ‘mostly closed’ locals of St Tropez”

The output of these highly creative sessions is being created into a valuable handbook for business leaders across the world and will be available in 2019.  It will focus on giving these leaders information about some of the most pressing issues and opportunities for business today. It will also give them practical actions they can take to help their own business be better prepared to take advantage of. As well as having chapters by the speakers, it will include input from the specially invited attendees, who will add to your thinking and share stories and case studies to help illustrate the topics.
