Heather made a €10,000 donation to Diakoniewerk whilst at an event in Schladming, Austria in 2014.

The Diakoniewerk is a member of Diakonie Austria, one of the five major charities in Austria.

Diakoniewerk is active in many fields of work in the social and health sector in Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol and Vienna. It develops modern facilities for people with disabilities, people in old age, in health and in education.

Diakoniewerk strives towards making an inclusive society, where all members feel comfortable in a community environment.

Heather’s donation was used towards building a brand new living facility for those in need in Schladming.

On Tuesday 22 March, Mag. Peter Stückelschweiger, Managing Director /CEO and Diakonie Hannes Stickler, Head of communications, invited Heather to see how her generous donation had been utilised.

Heather had a tour of the modern building located in central Schladming and met some of the current residents, who were happy to welcome her and show off their new home with pride.

They even cooked her a Vegan poppyseed cake !

Heather Mills said:

“I will definitely be back. It is so heartwarming to see the residents happy and content in this modern facility. It is so cozy and a real home. I am very pleased to see this dream of theirs come to fruition”.
