Heather MillsTV Presenting History

Heather began her TV presenting career in the early 1990's when she was asked to present a heavy metal rock programme. After her accident in 1993 she was asked by the BBC to present a series called 'Chill out with Heather'. She then joined the show Summer Holiday as one of it's presenters and went on to present numerous holiday shows such as 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Travelogue'. From there she was asked to forefront a series called 'The General' also for the BBC. This was based in Southampton hospital & broadcast 'live' 5 days a week. The General not only showcased Heather's interviewing and presenting abilities, but also saw her involved in all kinds of activities from abseiling down the side of a hospital to demonstrating the various uses of her prosthesis. Her motivation to be involved in this programme was to take the fear out of people visiting hospitals.

Heather MillsHeather was a Senior Producer for current affairs at the BBC in it's first digital programme "1st say". Her role involved producing, researching, scripting, directing and presenting the flagship commission for the BBC's digital channel 'Choice'.

'1st say' was a 35 min live programme which transmitted after Panorama, a news programme. Heather took up the subject covered previously by Panorama discussing it with 6 people who had been affected directly by the matter. She oversaw a balanced and informed discussion.

The past years have seen Heather present various travel shows such as Summer Holiday, Wish You Were Here & Travelogue, in which she co-wrote & presented an episode that took the viewer around Croatia.

In 1998 Heather was asked to present a series called ‘That’s Esther’ a programme committed to influencing a positive change in peoples attitudes which brought about many changes in society as a campaigning programme.

Heather appeared on Larry King live as a guest and after a very positive response she was asked to present a show, her guest was to be Paul Newman. The show was such a success that Larry asked Heather to host the live show of the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. When Heather asked Larry "why did you allow me to interview the rarely interviewed Paul Newman" Larry said, "I interviewed him years ago and it was the hardest interview I ever did", all he would say was yes or no as he is so shy, modest and humble. As well as presenting Heather has been a guest on a numerous amount of TV programmes including Parkinson, Stars in Their Lives, Barrymore, Good Morning TV, Tonight with Trevor MacDonald, Dancing With The Stars and an array of others around the world promoting the many causes dear to her heart.
