Cat & Dog Fur Ban
11th December 2005
Larry King Live
After months of pressing the executive producer of Larry King Live to dare to air shocking footage of Dogs & Cats being abused in China, Heather appeared on CNN’s ‘Larry King Live’ on the 11th December 2005 continuing her relentless campaign drive. Larry King Live has massive audience figures worldwide and gave the topic centre stage billing, beaming the harrowing images of the plight of these poor innocent creatures to millions and millions of living rooms worldwide.
American Idol host Ryan Seacrest was the guest presenter and introduced the topic by saying:
On the show with Heather was Rick Swain chief investigator for the Humane Society, actor Alec Baldwin well known for his animal rights work and Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich who helped to pass legislation to try and stop this horror.
The show amounted to a no holds barred expose of the horrific treatment of these animals and many commented that it was one of the most powerful and moving CNN Larry King Live shows ever. We are sure the Chinese government must have been highly embarrassed by it’s content.
Speaking about the footage that was about to be shown to the world Heather commented:
“Well, you're going to just be horrified by watching it. It's totally brutal. I mean they crush the dogs and cats into what are virtually barbed-wire cages and they put 20 to 30 all crushed together and just throw them -- look at them, they're throwing them off a truck 20 or 30 feet. And there's no reason for that at all. It's totally inhumane. And they pick them up by the neck with tongs to move them from one cage to the other and just throw them in. And you see the dogs aren't even violent. They're just poking and prodding the dogs as we speak.
And the pussy cats are licking each other. They actually lick each others wounds. They don't even claw each other. If you were in that situation, you'd be clawing your way to get out and they're just licking each other because they're so shocked and they're watching around them what's going to happen. They're going to be skinned alive. And there's just no reason for it.”
