Heather Mills had just returned from a wonderful holiday to India when she saw on the television news that an earthquake had ravaged the country.
Just hours earlier she had been enjoying the culture, sights and hospitality of people whose homes and lives now lay in ruins. But unlike many horrified viewers, the plight of the victims touched Heather on a more personal level, as she learned that thousands of people had lost limbs...just as she had herself in a road accident eight years ago.
Heather contacted HELLO! and asked us to support her as she visited the scene of the earthquake. Her quest was to find people who had lost arms and legs, raise the money to provide them with artificial limbs and show them how she had coped with losing a leg. We have started her appeal by donating enough money to buy 5,000 limbs. She is also arranging local people to be taught how to manufacture them using local resources.
